In Hong Kong , nutrition labels can choose two different forms when declaring carbohydrate content:
(i) Define and label carbohydrates as "available carbohydrates " (available carbohydrates refer to total carbohydrates, but do not include dietary fiber) ;
Or more commonly (ii) define and label carbohydrates as "total carbohydrates". If you choose the latter, you must also specify the dietary fiber content. Dietary fiber content can be listed under total carbohydrates
If the term "carbohydrates" is used in the nutrition label, it is assumed to be " available carbohydrates " .
