Calcium acetate tablets - uses, side effects, and more
Calcium acetate is a phosphate binder used to reduce phosphate levels in adults on dialysis for chronic kidney disease (CKD). This medication works by attaching to the phosphates in food so your body doesn't absorb the excess. Take calcium acetate by mouth with each meal. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, and high levels of calcium in the blood.
