Gooseberry: Health Benefits, Nutritional Facts and Side Effects
Gooseberries are small gooseberry-like berries that grow on medium shrubby plants. They belong to the Ribes genus of flowering plants and can usually be found in the Northern Hemisphere, as they prefer warm summers and cold winters. There are nearly 200 species of Coix. Gooseberries are usually classified by color, with four different varieties: black, white, red and pink. They are rich in vitamins and minerals, including nutrients such as vitamin C, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. Blackcurrants are one of the fruits with the highest antioxidant value and have many health benefits.
