1. Helps your immune system stay active

"Sexually active people take less sick days," sexual health experts say.

People who have sex have higher levels of the substance that protects the body from bacteria, viruses, and other invaders. Researchers found that college students who had sex once or twice a week had higher levels of a certain antibody than those who had sex less frequently.

You should still do all the other things that keep your immune system happy, such as:

  • Eat well and drink well.
  • Stay active.
  • Make sure you get enough sleep.
  • Continue to get vaccinated.
  • If you don't know your STD status, use a condom.

2. Boost your libido

Craving a more lively sex life? Having sex will make your sex life better and increase your libido.

For women, sex increases vaginal lubrication, blood flow, and elasticity, all of which make sex feel better and help you crave more.

3. Improve women’s bladder control

A strong pelvic floor is important to avoid urinary incontinence, which affects approximately 30% of women at some point in their lives.

Good sex is like a pelvic floor muscle exercise. When you climax, it causes these muscles to contract, thus increasing their strength.

4. Lower blood pressure

Research shows a link between sex and lower blood pressure.

A landmark study has found that sex, but not masturbation, can lower systolic blood pressure.

5. Counts as exercise

Sex is indeed a great form of exercise. It won't replace the treadmill, but it still serves a purpose.

Sex burns about five calories per minute, four more than watching TV. It gives you a one-two punch: it raises your heart rate and uses a variety of muscles.

So get busy! You may even want to clear your schedule to make time regularly. Just like exercise, consistency helps maximize the benefits.

A good sex life is good for your heart. In addition to being a great way to get your heart rate up, sex can also help keep estrogen and testosterone levels balanced.

When levels of any of these are low, you can start to develop a host of problems, such as osteoporosis and even heart disease.

Having sex more frequently may help. In one study, men who had sex at least twice a week were half as likely to die from heart disease as men who had sex rarely.

7. Reduce pain

Try to reach orgasm before taking aspirin.

Orgasm can relieve pain. It releases a hormone that helps raise your pain threshold.

It can be achieved without the stimulation of orgasm. Vaginal stimulation has been found to relieve chronic back and leg pain, and genital self-stimulation can reduce menstrual cramps, arthritis pain, and in some cases, headaches.

8. May reduce the likelihood of prostate cancer

Being enthusiastic may help prevent prostate cancer.

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that men who ejaculate frequently (at least 21 times per month) are less likely to develop prostate cancer.

You don't need a partner to reap this benefit: intercourse, nocturnal emissions, and masturbation are all part of the equation.

It's unclear whether gender was the only reason that mattered in the study. Many factors influence cancer risk. But more sex can't hurt.

9. Improve sleep

You may fall asleep faster after sex, and for good reason.

After orgasm, the hormone prolactin is released, which causes feelings of relaxation and sleepiness after sex.

10. Relieve stress

Being close to your partner can relieve stress and anxiety.

Touch and hugs release the body's natural "feel-good hormones." Sexual arousal releases a brain chemical that speeds up the brain's pleasure and reward systems.

Sex and intimacy can also improve your self-esteem and happiness. It is not only a recipe for a healthy life, but also a recipe for a happy life.
