Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, is one of the 8 B-complex vitamins. Riboflavin 5'-phosphate is the coenzyme form of vitamin B2.
Riboflavin Sodium 5'-Phosphate is the sodium phosphate salt form of riboflavin, a water-soluble essential micronutrient and the primary growth-promoting factor in the natural vitamin B complex. Riboflavin sodium phosphate is converted into 2 coenzymes: flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD), which are necessary to produce energy by helping to metabolize fat, carbohydrates and proteins. Required for red blood cell formation and respiration, antibody production and regulation of human growth and reproduction. Riboflavin Sodium Phosphate is essential for healthy skin, nail and hair growth.
Coenzyme of various oxidative enzymes, including NADH dehydrogenase. It is the main form of riboflavin in cells and tissues
There is evidence that riboflavin-5′-phosphate (FMN) is absorbed from the human gastrointestinal tract via specialized transport rather than passive diffusion. Oral administration of vitamins after meals results in more extensive absorption, which appears to be primarily due to reduced intestinal transit rates, resulting in longer retention of FMN at the site of absorption in the small intestine.
