Begonia cathayana is a species in the genus Begonia, which contains 1545 to 1724 species and belongs to the family Begoniaceae (Begoniaceae). The type species of this genus is Begonia. The growth height can reach 50 to 100 cm. Perennial plants can only tolerate temperatures above at least 1°C.
