Almost all of the calories in Campbell's Condensed Tomato Soup come from carbohydrates. Tomato puree, the main ingredient in the soup, is made from water and tomato paste and is all carbohydrates. Like many processed foods, processed soups contain high amounts of sodium. 1/2 cup of tomato soup provides 480 milligrams of sodium. While the average American consumes 3,436 milligrams of sodium per day, the American Heart Association recommends 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day to reduce the risk of high blood pressure and heart disease. According to the nutrition label, Campbell's uses low-sodium sea salt in this product in addition to regular salt.
