Source:
Natural pigments isolated from the roots and stems of yellow roots ( Curcuma longa and Curcuma domestica ). Turmeric is a crude extract, while curcumin is a purified compound. It makes the curry powder yellow.
Function and characteristics:
food coloring, the color varies from yellow to red, depending on the pH value (acidity). It is not very soluble in water.

Daily intake:
curcumin is as high as 1 mg/kg body weight, and turmeric is as high as 0.3 mg/kg body weight.
Side effects:
There are no known side effects in the concentration used in food.
