How to prepare konjac noodles
- rinse. Place the noodles in a colander and rinse with cold water for a few minutes. This helps neutralize their flavor.
- boil. While boiling konjac noodles isn't actually necessary to cook them, we do so to improve their flavor and texture. Boiling makes them less crispy or rubbery and more like an al dente pasta. It only takes about 3 minutes in boiling water - you'll notice they get thicker.
- Pat dry. Pat noodles dry with paper towels. This is an important preparation step for the best way to cook shirataki noodles, which we’ll cover next.
How to cook konjac noodles
- stir fry. Heat a large heavy skillet without any oil over medium-high heat . Add the konjac noodles (this is after rinsing, boiling and patting dry!) and stir fry for about 10 minutes until they are very dry.
How to make the sauce
You can use any pasta sauce you like for konjac noodles! What we're making here is a creamy garlic parmesan sauce:
- Sauté the garlic. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the garlic until fragrant.
- Add broth and cream. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and simmer until sauce reduces in volume and begins to thicken.
- Add Parmesan cheese. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until smooth and thickened.
- toss. Add the noodles to the sauce and stir well. Season with salt and pepper.
