How to Make Garlic Shrimp
News flash! You don't need a wok to make a delicious stir-fry for dinner at home. All you really need is a skillet, but here are a few tips to get any stir-fry just right:
- Choose a large skillet with a round or flat bottom - you want to have enough room for the ingredients to move around in the pan as they cook, which is the key to a good stir-fry. For crisp vegetables and fully cooked shrimp, it's important not to overcrowd the pan. Having a larger pan will make this easier.
- Sauté this shrimp over medium-high heat - it gives the vegetables enough time to soften without getting burned or soggy. Medium-high is also good for cooking shrimp quickly, which helps them stay juicy and tender.
- As you prepare shrimp, asparagus, bell peppers, and snow peas, consider size when cutting. Making sure your vegetables and shrimp are about the same size will help ensure even cooking.
- If you're wondering how long it takes to fry shrimp, the main thing to do is observe. It'll happen very quickly - like three minutes - so once you add the shrimp to the pot, stir constantly and keep watching. Once it turns pink, it's probably done.
